Glenoid bone resorption after Bankart repair: finite element analysis of postoperative stress distribution of the glenoid

چکیده
BackgroundThere are various modifications of the Bankart repair, and postoperative changes to glenoid morphology after repair reported. Among procedures performed, a decrease in lateral diameter might be related surgery that involves removal articular cartilage labrum–anterior inferior glenohumeral ligament complex on surface. This is contrast cases without significant bony lesions not edge glenoid. Thus, this study aimed compare rim stress using 2 methods finite element analysis: method removing anteroinferior repairing preserving edge.MethodsFive preoperative computed tomography scans patients with traumatic anterior instability who underwent arthroscopic were used. Two models simulating different surgical created as follows: model G, 5-mm-thick was removed between 7 o’clock, repaired medial bone where removed. In E, removed, edge. The load stresses area G E measured analysis.ResultsThe at 3-4 o’clock 3.16 MPa 6.42 (P = .043). 4-5 1.68 4.53 5-6 2.26 3.93 .043).ConclusionSignificantly lower observed than E. There Five analysis. Overlap arthroscopic Bankart repair: reconstruction to the glenoid rim.
A new arthroscopic approach for traumatic instability has been developed with which avulsed capsulolabral tissue can be effectively attached to the glenoid articular rim with sutures, providing anatomic reattachment and effective deepening of the glenoid concavity similar to that achieved by open repair. This technique does not depend on fixation devices, trans-scapular drilling, or implantatio...

متن کاملArthroscopic Bristow-Latarjet Combined With Bankart Repair Restores Shoulder Stability in Patients With Glenoid Bone Loss
BACKGROUND Arthroscopic Bankart repair alone cannot restore shoulder stability in patients with glenoid bone loss involving more than 20% of the glenoid surface. Coracoid transposition to prevent recurrent shoulder dislocation according to Bristow-Latarjet is an efficient but controversial procedure. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES We determined whether an arthroscopic Bristow-Latarjet procedure with conc...
متن کاملEffect of Glenoid Prosthesis Design Variables on Glenoid Bone Remodeling: a Finite Element Based Simulation and Validation Study
Introduction Glenoid prosthesis loosening is a major complication of shoulder arthoplasty, thus highlighting the importance of improving glenoid prostheses longevity [1]. Finite element (FE) stress analyses have been used to assist joint prosthesis designs. Prior FE analyses have employed static or non-linear solutions to compare design variations with respect to stresses in the glenoid bone an...
